Believe it or not AK is a drawing hand in no limit holdem. Here were math comes into play. If you're drawing for a straight or flush make sure you slow down on paired boards. Simply because u may be drawing dead already or drawing slimmer than you hope for. If open ended or double gutted you have a strong hand, even before you hit. Because you're drawing 2 the nut hand. Plus you should have fold equity if the opponent chips are high enough. So basically you want 2/1 on your draws or better to push allin. If there's 75 in the pot first player bets 60 the next one calls and you have $100 2 win 195 the price is right for nut flushes and straights no matter if there's players behind you to act, you have correct price on the flop. When dealing with just one opponent, what you want is monster drawing hands. Flush draw with over cards to the board, flush plus straight , flush draw with a pair or pair with a open end. Theses hands are so strong that no matter what opponent has u are still getting the right price on the flop. Please remember the flop, this is where math should be considered, on all examples I gave you in this blog.
The turn is a different animal all together. This is when high level strategy is critical. Alot of times u will be priced out and bluffed out on drawing hands on the turn. Just the nature of the game. Some players are so good that, they bet big on the turn, knowing just to make you fold.
Now when you reach the river remember how the hand played out ;was he on a draw also?
If you believe They were, then bet for a fold equity. Because the mathematics may be in your favorite. Look how many hands u play and don't have a pair. This is when heart and guts come in.
